Protecting Our Patients from Influenza
Annual Influenza (Flu) vaccines are now available at Emu Plains Family Mediclinic.

Influenza is a highly contagious viral infection that can affect anyone. It is especially dangerous in young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with certain medical conditions. It can cause hospitalisation and death.
​
The Influenza vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your family from influenza. Influenza vaccination is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over. It is important to get vaccinated every year.
​
Influenza vaccines are free under the National Immunisation Program for:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
-
Children aged 6 months to under 5 years
-
Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
-
People aged 65 years or over
-
People aged 6 months or over who have certain medical conditions that mean they have a higher risk of getting serious disease, such as:

cardiac disease
-
chronic respiratory conditions
-
immunocompromising conditions
-
haematological disorders
-
chronic metabolic disorder
-
chronic kidney disease
-
chronic neurological condition
-
long term aspirin therapy in children aged 5 to 10 years.

If you are unsure if you qualify for the free Influenza vaccination please speak to one of our Doctors. For all other patients there is a fee of $15.

Influenza vaccinations will be given through our Flu clinic. If you need to see a Doctor for other matters, please book a separate appointment with your Doctor.
